What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are thin but durable pieces of porcelain or composite that are custom made to look like healthier versions of your natural teeth. These little shells are bonded to the fronts of your teeth to conceal a multitude of dental imperfections with just one cosmetic dentistry procedure.
Its efficiency is part of the reason celebrities love dental veneers. Dental veneers allow you to correct:
- Chipped and cracked teeth. Because dental veneers add an extra layer to your natural teeth, they can have restorative benefits as well as cosmetic!
- Discolored teeth. Teeth whitening treatments only remove stains on the outside layer of your teeth. If you’re experiencing discoloration of the inside of your tooth, covering it with a dental veneer is often your best bet.
- Misshapen teeth. Dental veneers can give your teeth a more uniform look for a more consistent smile.
- Gaps between teeth. Correcting irregularities in the size and shape of your teeth can make your teeth appear straighter. That’s why dental veneers are sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics!”
Dental veneers are extremely versatile. You can place a dental veneer over just one problem tooth. Or, you can place a veneer on every tooth that’s visible when you smile for a dramatic transformation!
What Is The Process Of Getting Dental Veneers?
When you come to Lakeside Dentistry, we’ll first talk with you about your smile goals. What things do you want to change? What does your ideal smile look like?
Based on this information, we’ll help you decide which type of dental veneer is best for you and your needs. Our office is proud to off two different kinds of dental veneers: porcelain and composite.
Porcelain dental veneers are sort of the “classic” dental veneers. They’re thicker than composite veneers, so they offer excellent coverage. This means they also require more extensive preparation of the tooth than composite veneers. But porcelain dental veneers are often lauded for their stain-resistance and durability.
Composite dental veneers are generally thinner than all-porcelain dental veneers, so they can be placed with little to no preparation of the tooth. They’re also generally more affordable.
After you decide which dental veneers are right for you, we’ll prepare your teeth if necessary. This involves removing a small amount of enamel from your teeth, just enough to accommodate the dental veneers.
Then, we’ll take some digital images and molds of your prepared tooth. This will serve as the blueprint for your dental veneers, which we’ll send to a laboratory. They’ll make your custom dental veneers, and send the finished product to us in a few weeks.
You’ll then come in and we’ll bond the dental veneers to your teeth using a special cement and curing light. You’ll leave the office with a brand new smile you’re proud to show off!
How Much Do Dental Veneers Cost?
The cost of your dental veneer treatment will depend on a number of factors, such as how many veneers you want and what kind of veneers you get. Because of this, it’s difficult to estimate how much the procedure will be. The best way to find out is to schedule a consultation with our caring team.
But at Lakeside Dentistry, we do understand that cost can deter people from getting the dental care they need and want. That’s why we accept multiple forms of payment, including cash, all major credit cards, checks, and financing through CareCredit.
We even offer a 5 percent discount on services that are paid in full on the day of treatment!
And of course, if you have any questions about your insurance plan or your individual case, feel free to ask our compassionate administrative team. We want you to be informed about your treatment every step of the way so you feel great about the care you’re receiving.
