Dental Crowns & Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are among the most versatile solutions in restorative dentistry. On their own or with dental implants, our Rochester, MN dentist can use them to repair many problems, including:

  • Missing tooth
  • Broken tooth
  • Cracked tooth
  • Badly chipped or discolored tooth
  • Badly decayed tooth

Whether your dental issues are cosmetic or structural, dental crowns or bridges is often the right choice. Call Lakeside Dentistry at 507-282-8222 to find out more.

Inlays, Onlays, and Dental Crowns

At Lakeside Dentistry, our goal is to keep as much of your natural tooth structure as possible. So we might recommend an inlay or onlay instead of a crown. Unlike a dental crown, an inlay or onlay only covers surfaces of your teeth where you chew your food and/or the sides of your teeth.

We won’t have to alter your tooth as much as an inlay or onlay. And less is often better when it comes to keeping your tooth intact. An inlay or onlay is often the right choice for a cavity that is too deep for a tooth filling.

For a more extensive fix, though, you’ll want a dental crown that covers your entire tooth and protects it from further damage.

Why We Use Zirconia Metal-Free Crowns

We like to use the best material for the job. In the case of dental crowns, that’s zirconia. In addition to its strength, we like zirconia for its:

  • Appearance. It has a translucent quality that looks a lot like your natural teeth.
  • Safety. Zirconia is used for artificial joints and other medical applications. Unlike metal, there is little risk of allergy or other adverse reactions.

A Bit About Dental Bridges

We can fill the gap left by a missing tooth with a dental bridge. Depending on factors including the number of missing teeth and the condition of your adjacent teeth, we can attach your bridge to

  • Adjacent teeth using dental crowns
  • Dental implants
